For patients, Your Doctor
Check out Open Payments to see if your doctor received money from pharma. Keep in mind that receiving money is not inherently bad. (E.g. Pharma reps can pay for meals to treat office staff or pay a clinician to speak at an event.) However, this can help you initiate an open dialogue with your physician.

As a study participant, here are the questions I ask before signing a consent form. As someone who has written consent forms, these questions incorporate my experience on both sides of the participant-researcher relationship.
